This window, entitled "Deborah's Dream", was commissioned as a memorial to Deborah Marsh who was the driving force behind the establishment of the of the beautiful, modern Community Kitchen facility that supports the Meals on Wheels program of the Central Virginia Foodbank located at 1415 Rhoadmiller St in Richmond. The facility, which she sadly did not live to see completed, is a testament to her savvy in partnering people and corporate donors toward a common good. When I met with her friends and family I was profoundly touched by the deep passion that she had, and that she inspired, for providing a nourishing meal and a personal visit to those in need. The walls and floor tiles of this state of the art, 'green', facility are filled with bright, vibrant color reflecting the cheerful humor or this intelligent and tireless advocate. I echoed these colors in this abstract steaming bowl of food. Deborah was fond of quotes and one of her favorites is included in the center of the bowl. I sand carved and then painted the letters. The memorial panel is sand carved red flashed glass. I used faceted glass jewels, as well as bevels in the border, for extra sparkle.
